Pastor Arrested for Taking 75 Married Women From Church Members as Wives

The Anambra State Government has confirmed the arrest of Pastor Harrison Charles, founder of Day Spring Assembly in Awada, Onitsha, following serious allegations that he lured numerous married women away from their husbands.

According to reports, several of the women involved are members of his church and have accused the cleric of manipulating families, encouraging wife-swapping practices, and allegedly taking some members’ wives as his own partners.

The arrest comes amid the state government’s ongoing campaign against individuals accused of using religion to exploit members of the public. Since authorities intensified efforts against suspected fraudulent clerics, more alleged victims have begun sharing accounts of their experiences.

Confirming the development, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Dr. Ejimofor Opara, disclosed in a Facebook post that the pastor was apprehended by operatives of Agunechemba after a viral video surfaced containing multiple accusations against him.

Opara stated that Pastor Harrison has been handed over to the police and is currently being investigated in a joint operation involving the Anambra State Government and the Anambra State Police Command.

According to the official, investigators made another unusual discovery during the arrest.

“Pastor Harrison Charles, owner of Day Spring Assembly in Awada, Onitsha, was arrested by operatives of Agunechemba following a viral video containing several allegations against him,” Opara said.

He added that 11 babies were found at the pastor’s residence. The cleric reportedly claimed that all the children were his and that they were born to 11 different wives.

The pastor also allegedly told investigators that he could not accurately state the total number of wives he has married or the number of children he has fathered.

Authorities have urged members of the public with relevant information about the pastor’s activities to assist with the investigation.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, appealed to anyone with additional evidence or information to contact the state government as inquiries continue into the allegations.
