Kano PDP Backs Goodluck Jonathan’s Presidential Ambition
The Kano State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed support for the presidential ambition of former President Goodluck Jonathan, while reaffirming its commitment to decisions made by the party’s national leadership.
Speaking at a press briefing on Monday at the party secretariat in Kano, the state PDP chairman, Hon. Yusuf Ado Kibiya, said the chapter had reviewed the National Executive Committee’s position on Jonathan’s candidacy and would continue to operate within the party’s constitution and established guidelines.
“Kano PDP has reviewed the national executive’s decision regarding the presidential candidacy of former President Goodluck Jonathan,” Kibiya said.
He noted that the state chapter respects the procedures that produced the decision and supports the authority of the party’s national leadership to shape its political direction.
“We acknowledge and respect the processes that led to this decision and affirm our support for their right to determine the party’s national trajectory, within the framework of our constitution and legal guidelines,” he stated.
Kibiya also said the Kano PDP would continue collaborating with stakeholders to strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
“Our regional chapter remains aligned with the party’s broad objectives and will engage in constructive dialogue to advance PDP’s mission across Kano and Nigeria,” he added.
He urged party members to remain united, disciplined, and committed to the party’s goals.
The chairman further assured supporters that despite recent defections and political realignments, the PDP in Kano remains united and focused on promoting democratic values, accountability, and public service across the country.
