Hisba Arrests Seven in Bauchi Over Alleged Wife-Swapping Scheme

The Hisba Command in Katagum Zone of Bauchi State has detained seven individuals linked to a group known as Wuddadu over allegations of exchanging spouses for sexual relations, reportedly justified by one member’s claim of a “dream.”

Zonal Commander Malam Ridwan Muhammad Khairan said the arrests followed complaints from residents and even members within the group. He emphasized that such actions have no foundation in Islamic teachings and clearly amount to adultery, stressing that marriage must follow proper and witnessed procedures.

The suspects reportedly admitted to the arrangement and have shown remorse, but Hisba’s ‘Operation Ko Ba Kobo’ unit warned that strict legal action would be taken to prevent any recurrence.

Meanwhile, Wuddadu leader Malam Sagir Bashir distanced the group from those involved, revealing they had cautioned them for over a year before reporting the matter. Authorities have dismissed the “dream” justification as baseless, with investigations still ongoing.
