Fulani TikToker Sparks Debate Over Ethnic Profiling and Collective Blame

A young Fulani activist, Ibrahim Dan Arewa, has gone viral on TikTok after criticizing what he described as double standards in the way Fulani communities are treated in Nigeria.

In the widely shared video, Dan Arewa questioned why ordinary Fulani people are often blamed for crimes committed by individuals, arguing that many Fulani families are themselves victims of kidnapping, cattle rustling, violence, and insecurity.

He spoke about cases where Fulani parents are abducted for ransom, cattle stolen, and communities attacked, insisting that criminals should be treated as individuals rather than their actions being used to stigmatize an entire ethnic group.

Dan Arewa also claimed that Fulani communities were among the earliest victims of targeted violence and abductions in Nigeria, arguing that collective blame has worsened ethnic tensions and discrimination.

The video has generated widespread reactions online, with many debating issues surrounding ethnic profiling, insecurity, reprisal attacks, and the growing number of young Fulani voices speaking against stereotyping and generalization.
