Mbappé Scores 10th World Cup Goal, Joins Elite List in Tournament History
France captain Kylian Mbappé has become only the fourth player in FIFA World Cup history to score 10 or more goals in a single tournament.
The Real Madrid forward reached the milestone after scoring twice in France’s 6-4 defeat to England in the 2026 FIFA World Cup third-place playoff on Saturday.
Mbappé entered the match with eight goals and finished the tournament with 10, securing his place among the competition’s greatest goalscorers.
According to OptaJoe, he is the first player in 56 years to score at least 10 goals in a single World Cup.
The players to achieve the feat are:
- Just Fontaine (France) – 13 goals (1958)
- Sándor Kocsis (Hungary) – 11 goals (1954)
- Gerd Müller (West Germany) – 10 goals (1970)
- Kylian Mbappé (France) – 10 goals (2026)
