Kwankwaso Praises IGP for Ordering Fresh Probe Into Dadiyata’s Disappearance

Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has commended Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu for directing a “comprehensive investigation” into the disappearance of Abubakar Idris Dadiyata.

Kwankwaso reacted after a former aide to an ex-governor reportedly alleged that some police officers claimed responsibility for Dadiyata’s disappearance.

In a statement, Kwankwaso said he became aware of the testimony and welcomed the decision of the police leadership to investigate the matter.

“I have been informed about the recent testimony by a former aide to a former governor, where police officers were allegedly linked to the disappearance of Abubakar Idris Dadiyata in Kaduna,” he stated.

Dadiyata, a lecturer and government critic, was abducted from his residence in Kaduna in August 2019 and has not been seen since then.

Kwankwaso noted that he and his associates had continued to pray and advocate for a proper investigation into the case since the abduction happened.

According to him, the latest action by the Inspector General of Police is “reassuring” and represents a “decisive and long-overdue” step toward uncovering the truth.

He also urged security agencies to closely monitor individuals mentioned in the testimony to prevent interference with the investigation process.

Kwankwaso further appealed to the government to ensure that Dadiyata and his family receive proper compensation if he is eventually found alive, considering the trauma they have endured over the years.

He also appreciated members of the public for sustaining advocacy on the matter and praised Barrister Abba Hikima Fagge for his role in pushing for the latest development.
