Pedro Sánchez Reacts to Barcelona Star Lamine Yamal’s Palestine Flag Display
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has commented on the recent actions of Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal, who was seen displaying a Palestinian flag during the club’s La Liga title celebrations.
Addressing journalists during a press conference, Sánchez responded by referring to Spain’s official position on the Israel-Palestine conflict. He noted that Spain has already formally recognised Palestine as a state.
“Spain has recognised the state of Palestine,” Sánchez said. “From the very beginning, Spain condemned the attacks by Hamas, and later condemned the war being waged by the Israeli authorities in the Gaza Strip.”
The Prime Minister’s remarks come as public figures and athletes continue to attract attention for expressing views related to the conflict. Sánchez stressed that Spain’s position supports peace while condemning violence from both sides.
