Troops of the 12 Brigade have arrested a suspected terrorist courier, identified as Yahaya Umar, along the Obajana–Lokoja road in Kogi State after allegedly discovering 500 rounds of 7.62mm NATO belted ammunition concealed inside a bag of maize.

According to the Army, the suspect was intercepted on May 6 following intelligence reports linking him to terrorist logistics operations across parts of North Central Nigeria.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the ammunition was reportedly picked up from Obajana Forest and was being transported to Dikko Junction in Suleja, Niger State.

The Army said Umar is currently in custody for further interrogation as security operatives intensify efforts to uncover and dismantle the wider arms supply network linked to the operation.
