Iranian-American Lawmaker Says Threats Aim to Deflect From ‘Failing, Illegal War’

Representative Yassamin Ansari, the sole Iranian-American Democrat serving in the U.S. Congress, has publicly addressed a surge of personal threats aimed at her following her vocal criticism of current military actions. Despite the backlash, Ansari clarified that her position is dual-natured: she remains a fierce critic of the ongoing war while maintaining an unwavering opposition to the oppressive Iranian regime.

The congresswoman characterized the recent wave of hostility and doxxing as a calculated diversion. According to Ansari, these attacks are fueled by the desperation of proponents of the conflict, intended to shift public focus away from what she describes as a failing and legally questionable military campaign.

The harassment has extended beyond the representative herself, targeting her congressional staff and family members. Ansari revealed that detractors have utilized AI-generated imagery and spread malicious falsehoods regarding her family’s legal status, including baseless claims that she and her parents are not American citizens.

Ansari emphasized that her advocacy for democracy and human rights is deeply rooted in her family’s direct history with the Iranian government’s brutality. This personal background, she explains, informs her identity as a patriotic American and strengthens her resolve to oppose the policies of Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth.

In a concluding statement of defiance, Ansari noted that her anti-war stance is not just a personal conviction but a reflection of her district’s will. She pointed out that 75% of her Arizona constituents share her opposition to the conflict, reinforcing her commitment to stand firm against the war despite the escalating personal costs.
