Court Sentences Former Power Minister Saleh Mamman to 75 Years in Prison
The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, to 75 years imprisonment over the theft of public funds amounting to about ₦33.8 billion.
The case was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, which accused Mamman of conspiracy and money laundering linked to funds allocated for the Zungeru and Mambilla hydroelectric power projects.
The judgment marks a major development in the case, which had earlier reached a stage where the court dismissed the former minister’s no-case submission and directed him to enter his defence.
Authorities said the conviction followed investigations into the alleged diversion of billions of naira meant for critical power infrastructure projects in Nigeria.
