Mustapha Gubio Emerges APC Governorship Candidate in Borno
Engr. Mustapha Gubio has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Borno State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His emergence was confirmed on Thursday in Maiduguri during a ceremony overseen by Chief Emma Eneukwu, chairman of the state primary election committee, with Vice President Kashim Shettima present.
Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum described the outcome as “the will of Almighty Allah” and appreciated President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their support toward achieving the consensus that produced Gubio.
In his acceptance speech, Gubio promised to build on Governor Zulum’s achievements, stressing commitments to fighting corruption, improving education, strengthening agriculture, rebuilding communities affected by insurgency, and empowering young people.
“We shall intensify efforts to continue addressing insurgency,” Gubio said.
Vice President Shettima urged party members to remain united despite disagreements from the primary process.
“There is no victor, no vanquished in this contest… let us sheath our swords for the good of our people,” he told aspirants and supporters.
