Guardiola Warned Man City Players Against Showing Bruno Fernandes’ Attitude
Former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola reportedly used Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes as an example while addressing his squad after a derby win.
According to The Athletic, the incident followed City’s 3-0 victory over United in September. Rather than focusing on his team’s performance, Guardiola reportedly highlighted Fernandes’ reaction during the match.
Fernandes was said to be visibly frustrated with his teammates over Phil Foden’s opening goal and openly criticised them while City celebrated.
Reports claim Guardiola showed clips of the moment to his players, stressing that although Fernandes is a talented footballer, publicly displaying anger toward teammates in that manner would not be acceptable at Manchester City.
The report says Guardiola wanted to reinforce standards around team behaviour and unity inside the dressing room.
Guardiola later left the Etihad after a season in which Fernandes reportedly set a new assists record.
