Tinubu Hardly Sleeps Because of Nigeria’s Insecurity — Shagari

Former Sokoto State Deputy Governor has said President Bola Tinubu is deeply troubled by Nigeria’s security challenges and “hardly sleeps easy” because of the situation.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, Shagari said the President remains concerned about the safety of Nigerians but stressed that addressing insecurity should not be left to the Federal Government alone.

He noted that state governments receive security votes and should use those resources to strengthen security efforts, including supporting the creation of state police.

According to Shagari, there should be no room for excuses when it comes to protecting lives and property, as insecurity continues to worry citizens across the country.

“The President hardly sleeps easy because of the security situation. He is deeply concerned about the safety and security of Nigerians, but security cannot be the responsibility of the Federal Government alone,” he said.

He urged state governments to work closely with the President, the military, and other security agencies to improve security nationwide.

“States must step up to support the President, the military, and other security agencies in tackling insecurity so that people can travel freely, go about their daily activities, and sleep peacefully without fear for their safety,” Shagari added.
