The Delta State Police Command has strongly condemned the actions of an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) accused of killing a suspect, describing the act as unjustifiable and inexcusable.

Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, made this known during an interview on Channels Television, where he addressed the incident that has sparked public outrage and renewed concerns over police conduct.

According to Edafe, the officer had been directed to transport the suspect to the station but instead carried out a fatal shooting. He stressed that the act went beyond misconduct, pointing to the officer’s actions as deliberate and disturbing.

“You tried to shoot him the first time that it didn’t work, you removed your magazine, arranged it again and shot him for the second time. It is not explainable, it’s not pardonable,” Edafe stated.

He emphasized that the officer’s conduct clearly violated the rules of engagement and professional ethics of the Nigeria Police Force, adding that the circumstances make it impossible to justify the act under any operational guidelines.
